Fritz is demanding when it comes to taking his humans on adventures. He had Jeff and Chris Dennis out in the kayaks around the Copper Harbor and Horseshoe Bay area recently. First on the agenda was a close-up look at the Copper Harbor Bell Buoy. Then they were lucky enough to spot the Isle Royale Queen coming by in the distance. Fritz was looking a bit wistfully at the bigger boat, maybe thinking it would be nice to hop aboard for a visit to the Island, but he’s out of luck, because no dogs are allowed on Isle Royale unless they are service dogs with a valid certificate. That includes dogs on boats that are within the park boundaries. Sorry Fritz.

The adventurers then did some exploring of the rock formations around the area, with a nice little cove and then a neat look at a natural rock arch. Looks like Fritz would have liked to jump in the water to get a closer look at that scene. They ended their paddle returning, with a view of the Copper Harbor Lighthouse.

Jeff recorded a video short of the Copper Harbor Bell Buoy. Make sure you have your volume turned up so you can hear the bell ringing. The bells are instrumental when it’s foggy, if you can’t see the buoy, you can hear it when the waves rock the buoy.

What a beautiful day to be
kayaking on the big lake. I swear,
Fritz gets to do more adventuring
than I do. It hardly seems fair,
lol. Looks like they really had a
great time.

I wondered why/how the bell rings. Thanks for that
info!!

I never thought about pets on the Island...that
sure makes sense tho...Don't need it becoming part
of the pack. Or a snack.

Great pics and video for a Friday!! Have a great
weekend All.

Just left the foot doc, headed to the ER now, foot
has taken a turn for the worse. I need IV
antibiotics for this infection now. I'll be out of
touch for a few days I would imagine. Most likely
will be admitted. I'll keep you posted when I can,
I'm taking my phone with me of course. Got to get
this taken care of once and for all. Bring on 2025
already!! lol

I’m sorry to hear that, UC.
It’s another hurdle for you, but I know
you’ll clear it. All the best brother.

Northern Lights coming tonight.
Get your cameras ready.

So sorry to hear about the infection UC. I just got home and my big sis was just released from her hospital after several days on IV antibiotics. They have some strong stuff if needed. You'll beat this.

Donna,
The fear is that pet dogs carry viruses for which wolves have no natural immunity. It actually happened in 1980. The numbers dropped from 50 to 14 in one year and was the beginning of the end of the Island's wolves.

And also hope for clear skies, Alex. Here's the present view from a camera on Isle Royale:

Oops! Sorry Mary. The downloaded file from the NPS website met the 100K size limit on Pasty, so I never bothered to restrain it's size.

Mary says: I'll forgive you this time, D.A. -
All resized and fixed now.
