If you’re like me, you aren’t often awake when the Northern Lights make their appearance in the night skies here UP North. Thankfully, folks like 906 Images forgo sleep when they know the Aurora is going to make a showy display. These shots were captured at the end of July, from Presque Isle Park in Marquette, which is beautiful on its own during the day, so it is an added bonus when the Northern Lights shine overhead at night. Spectacular colors, stunning beauty.

Someone asked if you need special equipment to capture them like this...the reply was, “not really, just a decent camera and fast aperture lens and tripod. Some basic editing skills. You can even capture them on your phone.” From what I’ve heard, though, the camera captures more colors than the naked eye actually sees, as cameras are more sensitive to light, especially in low light conditions.

Our video today comes from another 906... 906 Outdoors, with the Mushrooms of Summer. Now that Morel season is long over, we get to learn about other edible wild mushrooms to hunt for.

What a sight! The cloud on the right hand
side of the pics looks like an alien spacecraft
come to check out the show. They must
be not able to see this from the mother-ship.
Interesting video too. The couple that
shrooms together, stays together.

When they announced the solar storm i was hoping to see a bunch of pictures! These are outstanding. Saw a vid of what it looked like from the space station and that is 'out of this world'!

How stunning...we get clouds...I heard on the news
last night, how awesome the lights were in
Marquette! They surely are!

The vid is so interesting!

We've seen a lot of those this
month. They're just so stunning.
I'm sleeping then, though. Maybe
one night I'll try to get to the
lake. Sure am glad that others
have captured them for us to see.

Hi
I saw both the northern lights and meteors on
Sunday, August 11. I had come up to our vacation
home on Lake Huron near Cheboygan. Our beach has
wonderful dark skies and a broad horizon.

However, the northern lights that I saw were plain
white. I saw around 10 meteors--bright fireballs to
show up to my old eyes through the curtain of the
northern lights.
