Marcy Bessolo Hermanson and her hubby took a road trip to spend the 4th of July in Sault Ste. Marie and enjoyed watching the boats and playing tourist. There’s always so much to see around the Soo Locks, including the tour boats going through, along with the big freighters. They appreciated seeing a huge American Flag displayed from a crane and the fireworks Marcy was able to capture was quite unique. It amazes me how these pyrotechnics make such beautiful designs.

And speaking of unique...the 210 foot tall Tower of History at the Soo is quite distinctive and has an interesting history all its own. Built in 1968 by the Catholic Church, meant to be the Shrine of the Missionaries, such as Bishop Baraga, along with a complex surrounding it, the project was cut in favor of other endeavors. In 1980, it was then donated to the Sault Historic Sites and has been operated as the Tower of History since then. To read more about it, click here: Tower of History

As kind of a follow-up to yesterday’s video about the old Steamship discovery, we look at The Most Dangerous Spot on the Great Lakes from Great Lakes Shipwrecks and Rescues. Triangles, quadrangles, and graveyards of the Great Lakes. Which is the most dangerous?

Great pictures. It looks like they
had a lot of fun there. We were
planning a trip there, but so far
we just haven't gotten around to
setting a date for it. There's
just so many things we want to do,
but my stomach hasn't been
cooperating. Hopefully that turns
around soon. There's lots to see
and lots to do UP here.

Lived in the Soo during my last year in the Coast Guard, it's a great town. Somehow I never got to go up in the Tower of History and I regret it today. Was too busy socializing with the town gals and those from LSSU too I guess!

UC, just catching UP. Like Deb, i was picturing you in the North. Praying that you will heal quickly and make it to Grand Marais. Know exactly how you feel about trouble finding you. Don't worry (easy for me to say) about the money and focus on your health, brother Wildcat.
