According to Kathy Erkkila Ptaszek, Spring is on its way at the Nara Nature Park trails. She was there recently and snapped these photos showing ice still on the waterways and some snow in the brush along the trails, but things are beginning to open up with the sunshine and warmer temperatures we’ve been getting. Her photos are quite inviting with the sun and blue skies, it really does look like spring can’t be too far off if the weather stays like that.

We have a new video from Alexis Dahl, in which she chronicles “The Oldest Creature You can see without a Microscope?” Her lead-in says: “In 1924, a boy was born in China who would transform the Michigan iron industry and discover what was, at the time, considered the oldest macroscopic fossil ever. This is the story of Tsu-Ming Han and Grypania.
And her Thank-You Section says: Thank you to Hunter Laing for acting as a research assistant and finding photos of Tsu-Ming Han! Additional thanks to James St. John and Dr. Miles Henderson for answering my questions about Grypania.”
So sit back (the video is just short of 13 minutes) and enjoy this interesting story in Michigan’s iron industry history.

So nice to see running water.
Could spring really be close? Or
are they going to spring (no pun
intended) a few winter storms on
us???

We can call this the Winter that Wasn't. Gross.

Nice to see the water running...I love when the
peepers hit. I used to go and sit behind the
Baraga Hospital when I lived there. There's a pond
back there, with the biggest (I swear) population
of Peepers. Oh I love that sound.

Yeah Deb, if we do get snow..it sure won't last.
Plus there's an old Finnish saying (I don't know
what it is), but it means "The new snow is the
death of the old snow". You gotta have it to melt
what's left.

"Got's them down by the river, cotton-pick'n
UP blues." (My new song lyrics.)
Entitled; "UP Sky Blues".
And Alexis's bubbly personality makes for an
interesting video presentation, indeed!

...and I like the name too; Alex-is.
