Today is a bonus day this year, February 29th. On this Leap Day year, we still pause to remember those that have gone before us:

Gordon Bammert
James Bryant
Leonore Gherna
Paul Lehto
Harold Makinen
Lynn Pender
Roseanne Poisson
Innocent victims of war in the current conflict,
Servicemen & women and
Frontline workers who have given their all

All of us here at Pasty Central extend our deepest sympathy to those of you who have lost a loved one or friend too soon. A name from the above list that you may recognize is Paul Lehto, who checked in to the Pasty Cam occasionally during the last half of his 50 years of service as Calumet Township Supervisor. May Paul and the rest of the folks on today’s list, Rest in Peace. Feel free to add the names of those you would like to remember.

Special thanks to Marcy Bessolo Hermanson for the beautiful Eagle River sunset for our reflection and remembering.

Memory is a way of holding on to the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose. - from The Wonder Years

Beautiful sunset! Condolences to
everybody out there who has lost a
loved one this month.

Remembering Grandpa Johnson, born in Missouri, who built ships during WWI in Portland, Oregon where he met Grandma, who was born in Prairieville, Michigan. They married and moved to Flint - a booming city at that time, where he started a family construction business. I was pretty little when he died but i remember he loved his little grandkids!

I will add David Paskvan, from Dollar Bay, who
passed the other day. I haven't seen him in
decades, but back in the day, we had a name for
each other. It was HOLLYWOOD....when one of us saw
the other, we'd yell 'Hollywood', and whoever
yelled it first, won.

He was his uncle's caregiver...and he took such
wonderful care of him....

So, Hollywood...fly high old friend! It's your
turn...save me a place!

And what a stunning picture!

Remembering my Dad, Norm (Grandpa Norm). Been gone
for 15 years this month already! Still think and
dream about you often. Our lives sure changed with
your passing. The pain is gone, the memories and
smiles and what you taught me, will always remain
and that's the important thing.
"Helsinki's Booming" !!

And Yes, what a fantastic pic!!

"Helsinki's Booming" !! ?

Is that a story you're able to tell, U.C.?

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Thursday, February 29, 2024 - 08:02 pm:

Lol, not much to it really D.A. just a saying that
came from my dad & my uncle... meaning, isn't it
great to be a Finn (in their eyes). My dad would
always sign off a phone call or when he was
leaving he would always say that to me lol. One of
many "Normism's" I guess.

Sidenote from yesterday... we did stay at Krupps
instead of the park, because it was last minute
and availability was few and far between for my
35' fifth wheel. We have a new rig coming for this
year, we're back in a travel trailer, 30' long for
that very reason, easier to get into
State/National Parks. Plus, tho it towed very
well, the 5th wheel hitch really takes away from
the cargo capacity/space of the pickup bed. The
folks that bought the fifth wheel also wanted my
2500 Chevy, so we have a new Ford F-250, I think
I'm really going to like this setup much better.
Hope to see you and the rest of the Pasty Fam this
year in the Keweenaw!! Barring any unforeseen
emergencies this year.... we hope to be in Gay
from late July thru almost the end of August.
Deb's idea along with Mary and I think an
Afternoon at Brunette Park might be a great place
to meet and have a picnic and share some stories &
laughs. Hope everyone can stop by, date TBD yet.

of nails and remember... Helsinki's Booming!"
