Here we are at the end of January in the new year, already. Time flies by so fast, which makes this break we take a the end of each month to recall those who have passed on before us, an important pause in our daily look at the U.P. in photos. Today we remember:
Raymond Douglas Madison Garcia Helen Kearly Russ Laurin James “Jim” Martin Amelia Frances Pelto Innocent victims of war in the current conflict, Servicemen & women and Frontline workers who have given their all
All of us here at Pasty Central extend our deepest sympathy to those who have lost someone near and dear to them. May they all Rest in Peace. Please feel free to add those you would like to remember here today.
Special thanks to Melanie Hakala Rossi for the beautiful Cliff Drive sunset for us to reflect upon.
Grief is the last act of love we have to give those we loved. Where there is deep grief, there is great love-Author Unknown
I only knew Russ Laurin in this group. He taught all of my business classes in school except for Business English. That was taught by one of my favorite teachers ever. But I loved all of my business classes with Russ. When I graduated I let him know how much. I hadn't lived here for many years before moving back in '21. I've read so much about how he continued inspiring his students. RIP, Russ. Job well done ❤️.

Oops again. I forget to say I'm thinking of my dad and brother who passed away in December 15 and 5 years ago respectively. My mother in law also passed in December 6 years ago. I sure do miss them.

What a gorgeous picture. WTG Mel.
Russ taught so many of us...and he was a good teacher. I don't remember why, but so many decades ago, he took a bunch of us out to his place on the lake in Dollar Bay for a cookout. He was a pretty good cook too. He took my bro, along with a different pack yearly, up to Canada for fishing. He had a big heart. RIP.

Hi I recently heard from a friend who was informed that her sister had died. They had been estranged and she didn't even know her sister was ill. It isn't always possible, but we should all try to keep the peace and keep in touch with our families. And be aware of what a blessing love is, even when (as the quote says) it comes with grief when the loved one passes.
