Dawn Gunnari took a drive to check out the Tahquamenon River mouth last week, when we had some snow on the ground. As of the day I was preparing these notes, the snow was quickly disappearing here in the Keweenaw with temps in the 40’s...unseasonably warm for mid December. But I digress...back to Dawn’s beautiful photos. I have never been to this spot, so what a treat to see it all dressed in blues and whites like this. Dawn rightly said that it is beautiful no matter the season and she’s absolutely right. Sitting on the shores of Lake Superior over on White Fish Bay, how could it be anything but beautiful each and every day.

Visit Keweenaw takes us back in time on Main Street Calumet. The lead-in to their video says: “Like it has for well over a century, Calumet's main street is a destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment. Admire the historic red sandstone buildings along these storied streets, and discover the many shops, restaurants, and cultural experiences that make this town unique.” If you still have some Christmas shopping to do, head to Calumet and check out the shops there, have lunch or dinner and relax after the shopping is done.

Gotta love dem UP blues!
In the first photo, is that a bridge going across
to an island? I’m on my iPhone and can’t make
it out to well.

Just WOW! I LOVE these. So gorgeous. Loved the
video also.

Alex, that bridge in 123 going across the river. The picture is taken from the beautiful little park just South of the river looking North. We have enjoyed that park many times, but it was seldom as beautiful and calm as Dawn's pictures show.

Wow...those ARE stunning photos...

Calumet has some cool shopping places. I can't go,
but my Sis brings me some AWESOME coffee from
someplace up there! I love my Hazelnut coffee and
they got one to die for!

I think most folks here are also John Dee fans. Well, i just checked the journal and on 12/10 Nora posted a new message. If you haven't seen it, grab a box of tissues and read it. Such a good message of faith and love; you may be able to relate to some of it.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, December 14, 2023 - 02:10 pm:

Jbuck, I've never read anything by John Dee. Where
do I find this message, please?

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Thursday, December 14, 2023 - 02:42 pm:

Deb, if you go to the Pasty Cam main page, and under the left hand "Browse 'n Shop
the U.P." look for John Dee's Weather (johndee.com). When you open the page along the top will be a "journal" link. Just click on that.

Thank you, jbuck. That was heartbreaking and
inspirational all at the same time. What a
wonderful couple they must have been.
