Brita Haapala, from Brita Caroline Photography captured a peaceful, yet strange morning recently, with the sun leaking through the early morning fog. What a stunningly beautiful scene. I can just see this on the wall, done as a canvas print.

The remaining photos are her boys getting geared up for some pond hockey, although in the first of the trio of the boy’s shots, they don’t have their skates on yet, because they were just checking things out, taking a break from trapping. Then a little later the skates were on and they were doing some skating and puck handling as you can see in the bottom two photos and also in Brita’s video. Of course since these photos were taken last week, we’ve had some record high temps, so their skating may be postponed a little until the freezing temperatures come back again. But how fun to be able to skate without a pile of snow to shovel off the rink first. I’m sure the snow will return in the very near future and they’ll be back to shoveling the pond off again.

As usual, Brita captures true YOOP fun - skating in the outdoors on a real pond with the boys showing off their considerable hockey skills. Great vid!!

Oh My Goodness, that first photo is great.

I hope the pond isn't too deep. It hasn't been very cold for very long, has it? Although it does seem quite sturdy.

And the Winter Gales of December continue. I see several Lakers are having a gathering that made me think... "pajama party over in Whitefish Bay" as a total of EIGHT are waiting out the very high winds and waves. Another TWO are deep in Keweenaw Bay. I am trying to remember the last time I saw Portage Lake "fill up". Stay safe, sailors.
