We sure have had some beautiful mornings lately and today’s photos from Nancy Haun are great examples of that. She took these in the Skanee area, with the first two near the Ravine River. The Ravine River is a 16.2-mile-long stream in Baraga County near Mount Arvon. Check out the pair of Eagles she captured in the second photo. Now that’s a “right place at the right time” shot for sure. Nancy said she missed the train she wanted to get photos of because she was snapping these photos instead. Well worth missing the train, I’d have to say. TV6 even featured them on their broadcast last week.

The bottom photo is a cabin that Nancy passes by on regular basis and she’s loved it for years, calling it the “Cabin of my heart”, but unfortunately it does not belong to her and is not in very good shape anymore.

Today’s video is from Shawn Malone over at Lake Superior Photo and Gallery/Studio. She recorded the Aurora, Clouds and Water from the shores of Lake Superior in Marquette on the night of December 2, 2023. It’s an absolutely stunning capture of the Northern Lights event.

Nice pix once again, Nancy!
“The cabin of my heart” is located on
Sand Lake off of M94, south of
Shingleton.
And the video is phenomenal!!!
The music and the visual blend
together perfectly.

Awesome pictures. Aren't eagles magnificent? And
I love that 3rd picture.

Very cool video.

Absolutely fantastic video. The best I've seen of the Lights in awhile.

How prevalent are Bald Eagles in the UP? Google says 800 nesting pairs for the whole state (and 9,000 for Minnesota). I guess I'm spoiled, living along the upper Mississippi River where thousands winter here and along Iowa tributaries. The several locks and dams keep enough water open so they can adequately fish.

Great Pic's & video!! Pics of Eagles are just
magnificent!

Josh Stein from Northern Michigan Land brokers also
has a total snowfall contest if you email his
website. I also review his journal on a daily basis
just like pasty.com, he sold our cottage at Little
Betsy. You can look at his real estate properties as
well as other listings on the western end of the
U.P., Plus his website has a few other points of
interest.
