The news was reporting that the conditions were going to be right late last week, for the Aurora Borealis to make a showing across Upper Michigan. Lots of folks were out to catch the dancing lights, including Debbie Jarve who headed out to Calumet Waterworks Park, locally known as Bucky’s, to capture today’s array of photos. You can see there were others out and about on the beach there in several of Debbie’s shots. I love how her photos show the changing lights as they danced above Lake Superior.

Then we head to Three Lakes with Fred Koski over at Fred Koski Photography. He recorded the Aurora and then made it into a timelapse video that shows the shifting and movement speeded UP just a bit.

Can't thank Debbie and Fred enough for capturing these greats moments! Next best thing to being there ourselves! Fantastic!

I got some beautiful shots of the Aurora from Bucky's last year that made it onto the NBC Nightly News, Good Morning America, and WeatherNation. Anytime one can witness the Aurora firsthand is great; getting photos makes it that much better...

It’s amazing to see how the earth
protects it’s own.
It’s because of this beautiful display
that we are alive.

How incredibly stunning!!!!! Thank you all!

Gorgeous shots! And what a neat video. Thanks to
all because some of us don't want to go out and
brave the cold.

Hi
It would have been technically possible to see the
aurora down here in Jackson, Mich. But we were
socked in with cloud cover, darn it.

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Monday, December 4, 2023 - 06:14 pm:

We were in the same boat, Kathyl. No chance at all to see them

Beautiful!

Same here Kathyrn, in Northern Illinois.

So glad we can live vicariously at Pasty Central.
