Brita Haapala was snapping senior portraits recently and during a pause in the picture taking, she sat down on her friend’s Dad’s swing. She said she just couldn’t resist taking a photo of his garden shed and pond amidst all the colors surrounding them. What a treat her first photo is!
She also enjoys taking her walks off the beaten path. The day she snapped the remaining shots she was on a logging trail. She felt like the whole forest was hushed and she had to tiptoe through so as to not disturb it all. The birdsongs were the only noise and they were a beautiful accompaniment on her journey there. Brita said she went off the trail once because the next tree and the next tree kept calling her name. Luckily she found her way back, but said it’s absolutely gorgeous out there.
The colors are definitely on the down side now, still bright in some places, others the leaves have already fallen to the ground. The beauty of the Pasty Cam, is that with the help of the talented photographers that share their photos, we can make the fall beauty last just a bit longer than it actually does.
Speaking of talented photographers and fall beauty... we’re taking a short drive with Steve Brimm as he records some trees and birds. He mentioned a Pileated for the bird sounds. Someone else wondered if it might be a Kookaburra!!

Excellent set! The forests are breathing their last breath of beauty before it’s time for their winter slumber. Many thanks to Brita and Steve for their contributions.

Beautiful. It seems we're all trying to snap up as much of the fall color before it drops to the ground. Though, the carpet it makes is glorious also. I love walking down these little out of the way roads also. I got a couple of nice pictures doing just that on Sunday. It's just wonderful to be out there with the peacefulness, listening to the birds and watching the leaves falling to their resting place. Nice job all. And thanks to Mary for keeping these pictures out there for us to see.

Hi Great fall color shots.
The maples are popping here downstate (Jackson). Years ago, my dad transplanted some maples from our vacation property to our backyard down here. Now, even on cloudy or rainy days I see the bright reds and yellows.

For you Color Hunters, here is the satellite shot from 2 days a go (10/22). Still some decent action in the Keweenaw and north Hurons.

Just googled it, yes they are the same. I hiked to the top years ago, if I can't get there in a four wheel drive these days or at least close to the top, I ain't doin it! :=))

Don’t give up, UC. Perhaps someday we’ll climb it together.
