When Kathy Ptaszek went out for a drive to check out the colors in the Keweenaw, she was rewarded for taking a slow ride, as it revealed much more beauty. You notice more when you aren’t racing by and it’s a great way to rest your mind and soul... taking the long way around. Kathy spotted some beautifully colored leaves, I especially love the different colored maple leaves in the first two photos. And if she had been speeding by, she never would have seen that Ruffed Grouse (a.k.a Partridge) that was pretty well camouflaged in that last photo. Here in the Copper Country, I’ve always heard them referred to as Partridge, so I was surprised a number of years back when I found out they’re really Ruffed Grouse. I wonder how that name change UP here came about? Inquiring minds want to know!
Dr. Nat is here with us today, teaching us about the 2.7 billion year old lava and evidence of much more recent glaciers in the Founders Landing area in Marquette. If it wasn’t for her expertise, most of us would just think these are rocks and have no idea how they formed or got here in the U.P., thanks, Dr. Nat!

I love how Dr Nat speaks so slowly and enunciates so well. She's so easy to understand.

LOVE Dr. Nat's vids...
I picked some HUGE oak leaves that changed color one year. I figured I'd dry them, then paint on them...Got back home, and started looking at them...on the backs of ALL of them were webs and nests. Mother Nature making sure next year's batch will make it....Needless to say..they went back in the woods~
