We continue with the explorations of Cindy Conway & Mike Donnelly. This time we’re checking out the Bush Bay Overlook area near Cedarville. Cindy said they hiked a ways down the trail there off M-134 and were amazed to find the boulder filled beaches. So beautiful with the coastal cedar forest, wetlands and northern hardwoods, too. In the second to the last photo, you can see the Port Dolomite Limestone facilities in the upper left corner of the photo.
Such different looking rock, with the pitting and color, I’m taking a guess here then, that they must be limestone. Cindy also supplied some information about limestone mining here in the UP. She said when we think of mining here in the U.P., we think of Copper and Iron, but the limestone bedrock gives us the stunning beaches and a huge industry where vast amounts are shipped yearly from Port Inland, east of Manistique and Port Dolomite, near Cedarville, DeTour Village and Drummond Island. Interesting!
Since we are already nearby... we’re joining MI Playground once again, with a Drummond Island summer bucket list to complete.

Very cool pictures. I've never been to that area. There's just so much to see UP here.

Lotsa rocksa! Make want to wax lyrical: “Going down the stoney end I never wanted to go down the stoney end Mama, let me start all over Cradle me, Mama, cradle me again” (Barbra Streisand)
