Laurie Bashaw and her hubby Ed like to spend time camping around the U.P. in the summer, so on their way home from their Mackinac Island excursion, they made the drive up to the shoreline of Lake Superior at Grand Marais to see if things were shaping up for the camping season coming up. What they found was lots of ice there that needs to melt before camping can begin. If we continue with the 40° days we’ve been enjoying off and on lately, that ice will be melting in no time or at least breaking up and heading out into the Big Lake further. We’re definitly on the downside of winter here UP North. We may get a few storms here and there in March and April, but for the most part, winter is slowly easing into the next season.

We’re joining MI Playground again today, with one of their Go Here, Do This videos. In this episode they share fun ideas for winter activities in St. Ignace, including amazing views of the Mackinac Bridge, snowshoeing and fat biking.

I once read an explanation as to why time goes by faster as you get older. When you’re eight years old, one eighth of your life goes by, but when you’re eighty, one eightieth goes by. One eightieth is a lot shorter than one eighth.
