Dawn Gunnari from Keweenaw Pictures shares a few photos from the storm last week in Marquette. Just about the entire U.P. was under a storm watch/warning and a good portion of the schools were closed last Thursday due to the forecast. Here in the Keweenaw, we didn’t get hit with as much, but I’ve heard varying totals for the folks in the Marquette area from 10 “ to 16” and more. Dawn snapped these photos near the Bothwell Middle School in Marquette and managed to capture the road crews out with the big plows making sure the streets were passable for folks. A big thank you to the road crews all across the U.P. that are out there during the storms and after, to make sure folks can safely get out and about.

Cathy McKenzie says that it’s always fun to see the Sno-Go in Action! She caught this one in Ahmeek cutting back the snowbanks, making the road a bit wider for maneuvering around town. We’re lucky here in the Copper Country, that we have equipment like this to keep our roads open and passable.

Interesting set!

Here in SE-MI we might see 2 to 3 inches and we’re

in panic mode. “Oh the humanity!”

Beautiful pictures. And hats off to our plow
drivers. They are the best.

No doubt...THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE to all snow
removal personnel~ We'd not function well without
you!

Hi
Alex, today I mentioned to a clerk that they were
predicting snow. She looked disapproving until I
said "Snow, but not ice". That made her more
accepting.

So proud of the crews who go out into the storms to keep us all safe!

On another note, so sorry to see that Finlandia University will be closing at the end of the semester. They have been good and faithful servants for 126 years and will be missed. Go Lions!!!

Great pics and what a neat video! Yes, SE MI is
supposed to get 4-8 inches tomorrow with 45 mph
winds. Hope the Grid can take it, lol. We don't need
another power outage. There are still a few thousand
folks without power from last Wednesday's ice storm.

Living off campus in Marquette during my NMU days,
we always had a "survival kit" under the front porch
for snow days, but being made of glass and/or
aluminum we had to make sure that kit didn't
freeze!! wink wink
