February is such a short month, it seems like it was just yesterday we were pausing to remember those who had gone on before us, but here we are again…

Ronna Lee Baratono
Myrtle Barrette
Linda Hoyland
Raymond “Ray” Long
Ronald “Bucky” Perreault
Anna “Ann” Vollmer
Victims of the Earthquake in Turkey & Syria,
Innocent victims of war in the current conflict,
Servicemen & women and
Frontline workers who have given their all

All of us here at Pasty Central extend our deepest sympathy to those who have lost someone near and dear to them. May they all Rest in Peace. We invite you to add the names of those you’d like to remember on this page.

Special thanks to Joy Ziemnick for today’s beautiful winter sunset.

Donna asked me to add the following link about "prolonged grief" with regard to the losses during the pandemic and is relevant to grief from all loss of someone in our lives.

Awash in Grief

Deepest condolences to those who have lost
loved ones this month. Linda Hoyland was my
neighbor. She was a good neighbor and the
life of all the get togethers we had here in
the neighborhood last summer and fall. We'll
miss her this year, but we'll celebrate her
life when the weather is nicer. I know
she'll be there. Special condolences to her
niece and her good friend, Mills.
John, I was sorry to hear that your mom,
Anna, had passed away. Condolences to you.

Condolences to all.

Blessings to all who have lost someone. Thank you
Mary, for sharing the link.

NOW, I got a story about Ronna...she was such a
love. I had her in my car one winter night, and
she didn't get to hang with many "•••• raisers".
We were in a huge empty parking lot, and I told
her "hang on"....and started spinning doughnuts.
My hair was in spikes at the time, and Ronna
called me "Spikey"...she just screamed "Go
Spikey...Go Spikey"...it was such fun. She was an
awesome human being! Bless you Ronna....save me a
spot!

Fond memories of Myrtle Barrette. She was on the Board of Directors at Still Waters, when they approved our proposal for using this new "World Wide Web" to sell pasties as a fundraiser, back in 1995.

Myrtle was so supportive of the project, years later when we started the wireless service for Pasty.NET, she invited us to put an access point in her tall pine tree above Swedetown Hill. What a view! To make a long story short, while mounting the equipment on top, I fell backwards off the tree, but caught enough limbs - falling upside down and backwards - to slow my descent and not break my neck at the bottom. Myrtle nervously watched the whole episode, and was relieved when I rolled from under the pine boughs and said, "What a ride!" . She just laughed, helped me up, and invited me in for tea.

It definitely has been quite a ride. She would have celebrated her 102nd birthday in April. RIP Myrtle Barrette.

P.S. Debbie and I had delicious breakfast pasties this morning to celebrate completion of 25 years of the Pasty Cam. Tomorrow begins year number 26, and we look forward each day to this ongoing 'glimpse of life in the U.P.' Special thanks to Mary Drew for keeping us informed and entertained, to son Jonathan, who keeps the hard drives spinning and the lights flashing, to daughter Becky who connects us to social media and keeps FedEx busy shuttling the pasties, and to the kitchen staff who make it all possible. Way to go Pasty Crew!
