Jeff Dennis and Fritz were out and about checking on the thick ice at McLain State Park recently. It never ceases to amaze me how the ice builds up so thick on trees and branches on Lake Superior’s shoreline, yet those trees and branches stay standing, bearing the weight of the frozen waves. I’m sure some of them succumb to the heavy ice, but it seems that many just stand there and come out no worse for the icy coatings. Fritz doesn’t seem to mind the icy scenes either. Jeff says he’s quite adventurous for a small dog, and I think very photogenic, too!
We have a nighttime view of the deer that visit near Jeff’s Little Traverse camp for today’s video. They sure don’t seem to mind the lights of the vehicle shining on them. I’m sure they know from experience, that they’re safe there. Fun to be able to observe them like this.

Nice pics, Fritz has a great life!! They must bubble the Queen to keep the water from freezing around the hull?? The video is great as well, Jeff, you must be giving them a little food now and then to keep them around-eh?

N-Ice pix! The Ice Monster pic reminds me of a pic from several
years ago and it was called the Superior Monster or something like
that. It looked like a giant mouth with big ice teeth hanging down. I
thought it was one of the coolest pix on this website.
