Melanie Hakala Rossi and friends recently had a snowshoe adventure starting out at Great Sand Bay, on the Eagle Harbor Non-Motorized Trail. From what I’ve read, it’s a 6.6 mile trail if you do the whole trail out and back. Melanie’s photos give you an idea of some of the beauty along the way, especially the tree lined trails, not to mention the critters you might encounter, too. It’s listed as a moderate hike and I’m assuming that’s both for summer hiking and winter snowshoeing. So grab your snowshoes and head north!

We’re going skiing at Mont Ripley with In the Keweenaw, on the Danny Boy run. I have never downhill skied and this is as close as you’ll ever get me to doing so, even though it looks like fun, I’ll enjoy it vicariously through videos, thank you!

Nice pics, squirrel is a cute one too! Neat video,
reminds me of the time my niece and nephew got me on
downhill skis for the first time... and I was doing
okay until I got to the bottom and nearly took out a
bunch of skiers and the Lodge! Let's just say... it
wasn't pretty!! Skiing again.... In the immortal
words of comedian, John Pinette (may he R.I.P.)...

Nice hike. I've never done it and nowadays I probably never will. I DID finally make it up to Bare Bluff a few years ago. My dream is to make it back to Isle Royale, but I won't be doing much hiking there either. Glad I can tag along for these treks.

Is it just me but the gal centered in each photo looks like she's about to tip over?

Make that Nay Nay! and I'm with you D.A., you won't
see me on snow skis ever again!! :=))

When we were kids we would ski down our
hills that we lived on. Nothing steep, just
gradual drop. I would never go down a ski
hill. I value my bones. However, these are
nice winter pictures and I'm pretty sure I
could do cross country skiing. I just don't
want to. Yeah, that's it!

I finally remembered to go in and change my
settings here so I get my emails to remind
me to come check things out here. We had
covid so I wasn't really caring about much.
But I'm happy to have my pasty buds back.
