Laurie Bashaw and her hubby, Ed, went on an adventure last week out to Presque Isle Park in Marquette, to check out the ice coatings that had formed on everything after the blizzard. The winds must have really had the waves whipping out there to get the ice like that on just about everything in sight. Laurie described it as awe inspiring and after looking at her photos, that’s a perfect description. I can’t imagine how impressive all this must have been to see in person and I bet it felt like you had walked into a deep freeze. In case you’re wondering, Laurie said she had ice cleats on her boots. I bet without them it would be quite difficult to walk around without slipping and possibly taking a fall. The whole set of photos are amazing, but the last three are the most impressive to me... it seems like walls of ice forming a makeshift room of sorts.
Another product of the dumping of snow we received, is that it’s time to clear the snow off the roof. Laurie’s hubby, Ed Korpi is on duty in today’s video with an “Avanlanche” Roof Rake. Ed says you use it while standing on the ground and it cuts the snow into blocks, then the blocks slide down the plastic. Pretty slick! If you listen closely in the video, you can hear an engine running... that’s Laurie using a snowblower to blow the snow off the driveway that Ed pulled off the roof. Teamwork is how they get it done!

Great pictures Laurie! Imagine being there when all that ice was forming!
The person who came up with that type of roof rake is a genius! Much easier than the traditional roof rake or going up there and shoveling it off. But yes, once it's down, you have to clear it off the driveway!

BUT...did you see any of the Buffalo New York after that huge storm? Unreal. We are soooooooooooo fortunate!
These are amazing photos. Their adventures always bring such gorgeous photos.
