Jeff Dennis and family made a visit to the Central Mine site and did a bit of exploring on the hiking trails there. This site is one of the Keweenaw’s most successful mines, opened in 1854, it produced nearly 52 million pounds of copper by the time it closed in 1898. The Dennis family had some interesting views and found what remains of an old powder house. That’s Walter standing in the doorway. I’m not sure if they found the pot of gold from the rainbow that day, but they were lucky enough to spot several folks parasailing at Great Sand Bay. Not only does that look like fun, but the backdrop is amazing!
We’re heading to Marquette to check out a drone video Walter Dennis made around the Marquette Harbor Lighthouse, still active and guiding ships through the Lake Superior waters.
