Judy Byykkonen stopped by the WIND ladies garden on the Houghton waterfront to check on things and found these Daylilies blooming brightly. The color is so vivid with red and orange hues combined it seems. Just such deep color and one I don’t recall seeing before. Someone said it’s the lily time of year, meaning that the lilies are blooming right about now, depending what your location is. It seems the deer like these pretty flowers, too, but they like eating them, rather than just enjoying their beauty. We had a doe in our yard a couple days ago and it ate the one and only geranium flowers on our plants. They’ve been slow coming back to life this year and she ate the little life there was. Guess they have to eat, too.
Just in case the hubbub of summer fun has you frazzled, we join Kathy Erkkila Ptaszek for a few moments of tranquility to calm things down again. Turn your volume UP to hear the summer sounds and take note of the clouds reflecting in the water at the Nara Nature Trail.

Are you sure they're daylilies? They look more like Asiatic lilies to me. Either way, they're so beautiful.

Hi The orange ones are what I know as daylilies. I'm a non-gardener, so I appreciated the abundant, I-can- take-care-of-myself-fine, daylilies at a house I once rented.

Deb S.(usedtobeayooper) sent me this photo of some beautiful Asiatic Lilies that she had planted, for comparison to the ones posted today. Pretty variegated color!
