Recently the LS&I Ore Dock was doing double duty with the Hon. James L. Oberstar and the Kaye E. Barker there at the same time. Danielle Putnam has been flying a drone lately, to get some unique shots of the freighters that visit Marquette Harbor. She does recommend that you get permission to fly over the freighters before doing so. These are some neat shots from a different perspective than taken from the shore, especially that last one that was right overhead. Seeing the rail cars on top the dock is a fun view, too.

We have a treat for today’s video, from Andrea Guerriero over at DRE Designs – Great Lakes Marine Products. She captured the Federal Beauport and the Viking Cruise Ship Octantis, passing by each other in the Soo Harbor just below the Locks and had this to say about the passing...”The Beauport was downbound after locking through and the Octantis was slowly making her way toward the Poe Lock after sitting in limbo waiting for the Beauport and the vessel before her, the Walter J McCarthy, Jr. to lock through. As luck would have it, these 2 vessels saluted each other after meeting, so it was cool to hear the whistle of the Octantis.”

I wondered if these pictures were going to
be Danielle. Then I saw the ones from
overhead and thought maybe not. But yep,
they're Danielle. Great shots, as always,
Danielle. We were there the beginning of
May but there were none to see.

That video is awesome. We actually made it
to McLain Park yesterday to see it go by
there. Very cool to see that huge cruise
ship on the Great Lakes.

you perspective on just how big the cruise ship is.
