Not all ski and snowshoe trails in the Keweenaw welcome dogs along with their owners, but Swedetown has a designated trail that dogs are welcome, called Woodland Trailhead, you can check the map here: Woodland Trailhead Map.

Judy Byykkonen takes her three four-legged companions, Zelda, Minnie and Giselle out there frequently to keep them active during the winter months, as she said even dogs get cabin fever if they have to be in the house too much. Judy was out there with the ‘girls’ this past week and with the snow from the storms, she said it was a winter wonderland with fresh snow covering all the trees. Absolutely beautiful, but we could sure use a break now.

E. Neil Harri has a video driving down M26 through Eagle Harbor, to the Marina, on which you can see how narrow the road is and how high the banks are after the storm. Pretty amazing! Note though, that the next day, Keweenaw Road Commision was there with the big equipment widening the road, making it look like parkway, just in time for the Copper Dog 150, that starts tomorrow.

Nice video that made my heart race and the ending
was perfect. FULL-SCREEN it for the palpitation
effect.

Judy is just always out there providing us with eye candy. Love her pictures.

The video was something else. Looks like the big guns were getting out there just in time the way those roads looked. I love that tree in the middle of the road. So cool. Something I wonder is, are there fish in the bay there? Does anybody ice fish? Just something I was thinking about as Neil was showing us the lake.
