All the hubbub of the Christmas holiday have come and gone, which means it’s time to regroup for the new year. Today’s photos from Marcy Bessolo Hermanson are just what the doctor ordered to help relax and make plans for what’s to come. You can almost hear the quiet in these shots, with the Big Lake calm and the sun going down. Sure looks like a peaceful evening on the shores of Eagle River, with the reflections on the ice painting a serene scene. It’s definitely a beautiful nightfall in the neighborhood.
Emily Blegvad shares a Michigan Upper Peninsula Winter with landmarks including: Kitch’iti’kipi Natural Spring at Palms Book State Park near Manistique; the Manistique Lighthouse; Cut River Bridge on US2 between Epoufette and Brevort, about 25 miles northwest of St. Ignace; the Mackinac Bridge; and Hessel, MI, located about 34 miles northeast of St. Ignace. Enjoy the tour!

Hi I've been to the Cut River bridge many times. It was an easy expedition from our vacation home at Cheboygan, and a good place for the adults to tire us kids out. But I hadn't realized how deep and long the span is, when viewed from a distance.

Thanks Marcy! Beautiful shots! And thanks Emily for a different point of view of familiar sites. Maybe the old paint had just gotten dirty and faded over the years, but Cut River looks like a brighter shade of green than it used to be!

JBuck, I think there was work done on the Cut River bridge last year, or maybe the year before/

Great pictures! I especially loved the 3rd one. But they're all great in their own way.
The video was cool. I enjoyed it.
