Veterans Day is celebrated on November 11th each year, no matter what day it falls on. It is the day we honor our military veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, in all wars. Not to be confused with Memorial Day, which honors those who died while in service, Veterans Day honors all military veterans, including those still with us.
Our local Veterans didn’t stop “serving” when their tour of duty was completed, they’re still out there serving in our community and today’s photos from Megan Gervais show just one of the ways they continue to serve. At all our home field Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes Football games, they proudly march onto the field as an Honor Guard for our Flag, while the Star Spangled Banner is either sung or played by the Lakes Band. Then they march off the field and the crowd shows their thanks with a big round of applause. Job well done!
When you meet up with a Veteran, give them your thanks, not just today, but every day. They gave up a lot to serve our country, we need to show them our gratitude for keeping us safe and free.
The town of Wakefield has a Veterans Memorial that honors living and deceased military Veterans. Ben C. Enlots gives us a look at this tribute to those who have served. An added bonus is a look at Nee-gaw-nee-gaw-bow (Leading Man). Indian statue by famous artist, Peter “Wolf” Toth to honor the Chippewa Indians.

Nice tour of the memorial. God bless our Veterans! "FREEDOM IS NOT FREE", as the inscription indicates.
