We continue on Don Afman’s (a.k.a. MidwestEd) recent U.P. camping trip. Today we get a good look at Don’s home away from home, all set up at Big Eric’s Bridge State Rustic Campgound. It’s located on the Huron River and Big Eric’s Bridge (in the second photo) is nearby, too. The campground is secluded and is a popular fishing spot for anglers hoping to catch trout and the fall steelhead runs. Don met up with a fisherman that he said regularly drives here from Covington with his dog, Loki to fish the Huron River Watershed. Don didn’t say if his new friend was successful fishing, but with scenes like Don captured, I don’t think it matters.

We get to check out the midrange view of Big Eric’s Bridge Falls on the Huron River, thanks to Don’s video expertise, too!

High on my hubby's bucket list up here is to
do some steelhead fishing. He always went
to the Brule River in Wisconsin but he may
not have to drive 4 hours anymore to go.
Hope Don had good luck.

Manu has to be one of the nicest "strangers" I've ever met. He did indeed have success catching Rainbow trout and salmon, although he said the Steelhead weren't running yet. Therefore you can bet he'll be back.

My trailer backing up skills are still pretty terrible. After spending 20 minutes attempting to maneuver into a campsite I gave up and took over two spots. It didn't really matter though since I was the only overnight camper present. It is a great spot and I will definitely be back. I bet I run into Manu and Loki too.
