Our last installment of the U.P. adventures with Cindy Conway and Mike Donnelly takes us to Miners Beach along the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore near Munising. Check out the colorful kayaks lining the beach, ready to paddle out into Lake Superior. The second picture shows the immense power of Lake Superior, Cindy and Mike believe. She points out if you look close on top of the rocks on the right, are what look like an old weathered slab of concrete and another big boulder that looks kind of out of place. The only explanation for those being there is the power of Lake Superior gale force storm waves washing them up there on that spot. This is also where Elliot’s Falls are located, but are just a trickle right now.
Cindy figures this beach rivals any beach, anywhere, for sheer beauty and I’d have to agree with her on that statement. This day they visited was not a hot day, so they passed on braving the chilly waters of Lake Superior, although there were a couple hearty souls out there...check out the very top right of the last photo.
Traveling Michigan has a short video from Miners Beach, showing quite a few of those colorful kayaks out on the Big Lake and plenty of folks enjoying the beach, too.

Sorry to see a man died after stepping over the fencing at Miner's Castle on Saturday. Such beauty but it has to be respected.
