Walter Dennis is in Marquette for today’s photos and drone video, checking out the LS&I Presque Isle Ore Dock and Train Yard, along with the breakwall and light at the end of it. This is all located just north of the city of Marquette in the Marquette Harbor. The Ore Dock reaches out into Lake Superior and is where the freighters come to pick up iron ore pellets from the mines in the Marquette area. I was surprised to see the train yard in the photos and the video, as I didn’t realize it was there with a large number of railroad cars to tranport the ore pellets for loading.
The video completes the tour of this busy commerce are in the Marquette area. Fun to see everything from up above like this, as it really gives you a view that you’d otherwise not see. Walter is becoming quite proficient in his filming with the drone.

Thank you Walter!
Fascinating to see the pictures and drone vid of one of my favorite areas! Looks so much different without the huge pile of coal by the now decommissioned power plant. As Mary said, a great view of the rail yard! Fun to watch the train go from the ore dock all the way out. Also didn't know the little buildings were there at the end of the dock. Will have to watch it a couple more times to catch everything.

Very nice! Does anyone know what that yellow curved line is in the water next to the dock?

Fabulous video. I would love to see one when an ore boat is present and actively taking on ore.
