Eben Ice Caves are located in the Rock River Wilderness area of the Hiawatha National Forest, near Eben Junction on M94. 906 Images was there recently and brought back these photos to share. Shannon recommends visitng, saying: “The Eben Ice Caves are pretty epic! If you haven't gone, I suggest you check it out. Bring ice cleats or yak tracks!”
I’ve never been there, but from what I’ve read, it’s about a ¾ mile walk in to get to the Ice Caves and can be quite slick and slippery in places, so be prepared for a trek to see all the icy beauty. Of course the “caves” aren’t really caves, but walls of ice that form when the temperatures get frigid, along the 150 foot long, 30 foot tall sandstone cliffs. Water seeping out of and over the sandstone walls is what forms the ice walls and they’re referred to as caves, because you can walk behind them, in a cave-like atmosphere.
906 Images also shares a video with us, today. Not of the ice caves, but from a visit he made to the Tahquamenon Falls. Absolutely breathtaking no matter what time of year, but this winter video is fabulous.

I've been to Tahquamenon Falls in the winter a few times. Back in the 70s, when it was similar to conditions in the video, we climbed down the stairs and went out on the frozen river on our cross-country skis. I probably would not do that now.
