Laurie Bashaw and her hubby Ed, headed out on an adventure yesterday in Marquette County, for a walk in to check out the Silver Lake Basin, a popular spot for fishing and hiking. Laurie said it was about a 2.5 mile walk in from where they parked. It was quite chilly and everything was covered with a thin layer of ice. Cold enough to have frozen her water bottle cap on, so she was unable to get it open to quench her thirst and Ed’s water bottle had fallen and snapped the top off, so they were water-less on both fronts. Despite the chill and being thirsty, they found some interesting “driftwood” along the shores of the Silver Lake there and Laurie was jokingly wondering how she could get one of those big, tangled webs of wood home to decorate her yard with. There sure seems to be an abundance of trees that have succumbed to the elements around this lake. Laurie said they warmed up a bit on the way back to their truck, as part of the hike back was uphill, so they worked up a little sweat along the way.

A different waterway is featured in today’s video from Bradley Gauthier. We head over to Ontonagon County for a look at Bond Falls on a different December day a few years earlier.

Interesting! Since the Silver Lake Basin dam was the one that washed out in 2003 it seems like all the trees which were washed away would be down stream. But maybe there's a connection.

Thanks for the beautiful video Bradley!

Excellent pix and video! Some constructive
criticism to the video recorders: Loss or minimize
the background noise so that we can appreciate the
real music.

Very nice pics and video!! Thanks for the outing &
memories!!

Hiking... Marquette County..... well in the late
seventies... there wasn't much H2O in our hike's
unless one of us took a spill... but we never
forgot the flask!! :=)) Great memories! Going to
college and being in the U.P. it was the best of
both worlds and it provided me with a great
education and life long friends and memories.

Thanks to all of the photographers who are still contributing pictures after all these years. Did you know in less than 3 months, the Pasty Cam will start its 24th year?
