Judy Byykkonen and friends, recently took a walk out on the Nara Park Boardwalk Trail, near Houghton. She reminded me that the original boardwalk along these wetlands, was destroyed in the Father’s Day flood several years ago. It has been amazingly rebuilt so folks can once again walk through the wetlands, enjoying the scenery and the wildlife along the way. What a special treat Bob and Ruth Nara gave to our community, when they first donated this property and built these boardwalk trails for us all to enjoy.

Today’s video was back before the flood took out much of the trail system and takes us on a bike ride along the boardwalks. Don’t worry, it’s speeded up about 2X normal, so the ride isn’t quite as fast as it seems. Tiger Holms videoed the adventure that the kids called the “Rainforest”.

Nicely done set!

How many boards did it take to build that
boardwalk?

Someone's gonna hafta git out on the Nara Park Boardwalk Trail with a weed wacker and in a few places a chain saw!

After looking at the video for the second time I'm think'n; "That be a heck of a ride on the Wing."

Very nice and comfortable. I didn't realize that nature lovers had it so easy these days.

And to Greta's point above...
How much nature was "harvested" to build the board walk.

The nature trails on Isle Royale are a bit more primitive.
