If you travel from Lake Linden to Laurium/Calumet when it’s snowing, even an early October snow like we’ve been experiencing, you’ll always see inches on the ground, rather than just a dusting in the lower elevations. For some folks, that’s a good thing, like these youngsters Barbara Bouwkamp photographed on Pewabic Street. These boys have appeared on the Pasty Cam before, as Barbara said she just loves her neighbors and enjoys watching these boys grow through all the seasons.

They sure are busy, clearing the sidewalk and making sure the snow got moved off to the side of the road. Who knows, maybe these kiddos will someday grow up to be highway engineers and if they do, they’ll have plenty of practical experience it looks like. On the other hand, the pup in the last photo, doesn’t look quite as excited about being out in the snow as the Pewabic Street boys do.

We’re heading to Houghton for today’s video for a snowy walk around the Michigan Tech Campus. Hard to believe a week earlier it was 74°.

Those boys are so adorable out there moving
the snow around. Oh to be a child again and
enjoy fall turning to winter. It makes your
heart happy to see pictures like this. Thank
you, Barb. This was a great way to start my
day.

First snow pix are always intense. Nice video...I'm not a former MTU student but I love the webcams. My morning surf-routine is: "Biblegateway" for the verse of the day, then "Pasty Central", then MTU webcams. After that I put on some cloths in case I receive a FaceTime call.

Oh the wonderful world of children. Maybe next year I'll be a grandparent so I can start reliving those times vicariously in person.

I'm so glad it's you guys and not me this week, but I know my winter obligations are coming due eventually this coming season. Like many in our senior years, I've become less and less fond of the "white stuff". It's interesting that I didn't at all mind the U.P. snow during my years in the Keweenaw. I even enjoyed camping in it. I'm pretty sure it's mostly because I didn't have a car.

Lastly, "SOME" clothes Alex? During this day and age of webcams I think we all know what that means.

D.A....I covered the camera on my laptop with a piece of tape, so don't go get'n your hopes up :-)

D.A., it's definitely different when you're
out there with your grandchildren. Sledding
with the grandkids was and is always fun. The
cold doesn't bother them at all and they have
those nice, rosy cheeks Next year I'm hoping
to have twin great- grandchildren. My first
great-grandchildren are identical boys.
Pretty excited and praying that all goes well.
Maybe I'll still be "young" enough to enjoy
playing out in the snow with them. When
you're outside with them, you forget about the
cold when you're watching their little eyes
light up in wonder.
