Happy 100th Birthday to Lucille Perrong of Laurium.  The other lady is Hayley Verbison, her great-great-niece, who is about 99 years younger than Lucille. As mentioned in September's Past-E-Mail, there was an earlier party at her Bete Gris cottage, as friends and relatives came from as far as Colorado and New Mexico,  with lots more from downstate. Lucille still lives in Laurium in her own home (with assistance).

In the early morning hours near Bob Lake, Pro Rally cars encountered blizzard-like conditions.  The first serious snow of the season...

...and the big picture is a view of blinding conditions on a turn up the logging road.

What a blustery day all across the U.P.!  Do these cars seem to be leaning to the Lake Huron side?

A quick trip downstate, and Pasty Cam finds a windy crossing at the Straits.

By the shores of Gitche Gumee,
By the shining Big-Sea-Water,
Stood the wigwam of Nokomis,
Daughter of the Moon, Nokomis.
Dark behind it rose the forest,
Rose the black and gloomy pine-trees,
Rose the firs with cones upon them;
Bright before it beat the water,
Beat the clear and sunny water,
Beat the shining Big-Sea-Water.

These mornings we see more than just frost across the Keweenaw marsh... actually some ice around the edges.

...and get an early start.  You may have to scrape your windshield.

Say goodbye to the leaves, on their way out after this cold snap.  The covered road near Copper Harbor is often the subject of Pasty Cam requests.

...and this road will take you to one of our newest sponsors, The Laughing Loon.

Welcome to Dollar Bay
Monday, October 18

Horner Flooring extends a welcome to visitors in the Keweenaw, and the village of Dollar Bay in particular.

This past Saturday the Pasty Cam visited the restaurant right around the corner from this spot, Quincy's.

Three generations of hunting Niederers... and three birds.  Coincidence?  This Eagle River entourage had a good outing, in spite of the rain....

...which could become snow before nightfall.
