How quickly the weather changes here in the Copper Country. We go from 74° one day, to 30° the next day, with rain that quickly turns to snow as the temperature drops. Some locations had measurable snow, others, just a dusting that melted later in the day. It continued for several days this time, though, so we had a good “taste” of what’s to come and a reminder to get the winter chores done now, before the big snows arrive for the winter.
Beth Jukuri has a four wheel drive vehicle for delivering mail on her rural route, so the snow wasn’t a problem for her when she snapped these photos. The second shot is my favorite, with the blue sky and fluffy snow clouds beyond the tracks on the snow covered road. First snows like this, there are always a few “fender benders”, as folks aren’t used to driving in the snow this time of year and forget that it takes a longer time to stop on the slick roads. A good thing about the snow, though, is that it’s easier to spot the wildlife, like the two deer in Beth’s third photo.
The snow is pretty, but it’s way too early for it to stick around, so I’m hoping for the temperatures to warm up again, so we can enjoy some warm fall days before winter takes over completely.
We’re joining Life In The UP for a walk around during an October snow here UP North. Nice to enjoy the scenery and not have to bundle up for the cold.

It's something in the air this week. Here, 500 miles to the south, we received a pretty good dusting yesterday that lasted several hours before melting. Somewhat unusual but not unheard of. I do love the color contrast offered by these early snowfalls though.

We got a lot of that white stuff yesterday. E probably got around 4". I was not even a little happy to see it. I'm not gonna pretend to like it. Maybe once I'm retired, and I just have to see the beauty of it, I'll like it more. But I really don't like driving in it. The deer sure do stand out in it. Betting they don't much like that. Pretty picture.

Nice pix and video, although a bit of a shock, but then the first time usually is...it hurts a little, but it's over quick.
