We have a dark night sky kind of day going on here on the Pasty Cam today. We start off with a beauty from Steve Brimm over at Steve Brimm Photography. He caught the moon glowing perfectly over Lake Superior, lighting up the scene like it really wasn’t night at all.

The next shot isn’t technically a night sky, as it was taken in the early morning hours before the sunrise. Brenda Leigh snapped this one on what she described as “a peaceful, warm, pre-morning sunrise” in the Brimley area. The Big Lake in all her glory, surrounded by colors in the sky.

The bottom photo comes to us from Shawn Malone over at Lake Superior Photography. Shawn captured the Neowise Comet, surrounded by an Aurora. WOW, it doesn’t get much better than this, folks.

But wait, maybe it does. Shawn also has a video of the Comet in action. Hope you enjoyed this Dark Night Sky event.

WOW is right! These photos rank right up there
as one of the best sets ever! I am in total
awe of all of them. Thanks so much for sharing
these with us. The video was cool also.

Oh WOW!

Such stunning photography.

I sure have a lotta respect for these three photographers, and several others that grace these pages on a regular basis — who set out in the middle of the dark, often cold of night to wait for an opportunity to catch such magical images.

As a lifetime night owl whose neurons stubbornly refuse to fire until after noon and a good cuppa coffee, I'm usually headed to Zzzsville at about the time they're heading out.

I'm so glad they're out there doing it for me, and all of us Pasty fans.

Shawn's not the only one that can capture a comet! ;-)
This was taken just about 24 hours ago at Bucky's...

Awesome shots, everyone.

Jeepers Creepers I agree, what a set and what a sight! I've been trying to spot it the last couple of nights, but no luck. Thanks to all!

It's pretty easy to see, even with the naked eye. Just find the Big Dipper and look almost directly under it. If you have a decent set of binoculars (7-10X), you'll be in for a treat.

We plan to go out again tomorrow night if the skies clear enough.

Very impressive shots! Our skies have cleared tonight, so here's hoping it will be visible.
