When Beth Jukuri gets to see critters on her rural mail route from Chassell to Tapiola, she says it makes for a fun day. This past week, she was treated to a rafter (flock) of wild turkeys. Looks like between 10 and 13 of them roaming free on her route. She said she usually sees the turkey flocks in the same places and figures that the folks nearby are feeding them. They are fun to watch, especially when they take off running. It’s amazing how fast these birds can run.
We have turkeys on today’s video, too. These birds aren’t trotting, though, but flying up into the trees to roost for the night. It doesn’t seem like a bird this large, should be able to fly and roost in a tree like that, but they do. Fun to see them in action like this.
