We were reminded of the dangers of too much snow on the roof this past week, when one of the store on Fifth Street collapsed under the weight. This short segment from Knetters Practical Outdoors deals with the weight of all that snow, and also some dangers to look out for when getting off groomed snowmobile trails, and on inland lakes where slush begins to form under all of that snow.
What a brutal winter it has been all across the U.P. and Upper Midwest. It has caused more weather delays with pasty shipments from Pasty Central than any winter I can recall... and we've been doing this since the winter of 1996-97.
But spring is still on the way, as we were reminded by the "springing ahead" of clocks this morning. Small consolation for those who have been manning the scoops up-top this winter :(
The Roof clearing photo is blowing my mind! Those dudes look like they are standing in a back yard with a chimney coming out of the ground. Please say it ain't so.

That was such a great video - amazing the amount of snow up dere! I've enjoyed hearing that UP accent, too! :)
