We join Melanie Hakala Rossi on her weekend excursion to check out the Lake Superior ice in the Bete Grise area. You can see in her first shot, that it’s ice as far out as the eye can see. But what are those stacks out a bit further? Melanie took a closer look, finding three of them out there and said that someone worked pretty hard stacking these smooth sheets of ice like this. Similar to the stacking of rocks you often see on Superior’s rockier shores. Pretty cool balancing acts.
The video adventure today was published by Rick Kline a year ago. It takes us to Whitefish Bay with a look at some Lake Superior blue ice piled high. Pretty impressive!

Guess if someone has a problem with the ice cairns it'll just melt away in a couple months! Have never seen that done ~ would have to be special circumstances to be able to do it.
