Hello Kathryn, and a very happy birthday to you.
My aunt was a teacher in Calumet. Perhaps you know her (Peg Thielman). She and our family are long time residents of the U.P. and although we don't get there much any more, we all share great fondness and memories of the area. We're all out west now, but spend our summers there in the U.P. and always look forward to visiting our relatives and friends who had the sense to stay there. Congratulations on your birthday Kathryn. It's a special day for a special person. Best wishes and good health to you. Terry Brennan |
Dear Kathryn.
A very happy birthday to you on this your very special day from a Minnesotan. May the good lord continue to bless you and look over you. I hope your day was great and you had many well wishers. |
You made 100 and still going. Congratulations!!
I was born in Laurium, Michigan on July 8, 1918, so I am twenty years behind
you.
I have ordered from Pasty Central and enjoyed them much. Please look at my letter from Washington which is the August group of messages at Pasty Central. Warm Regards to you, Rampton Harvey |

On behalf of my family I would like to extend best
wishes on your 100th birthday. My wife has connections from the copper
country. Her father, Clarence O'Neil was brought up by his aunt and
uncle, Ada and Frank Schmidt in the Calumet Laurium area. Again best
wishes.

Hi. This is Ted from Tampa, Fl.
I'm from Baraga, if you know where that's at. :):) You're the oldest
person I've ever sent email too. I bet when you were younger, back
in the glory days of the U.P when the region was one big copper mine, you
never dreamt of email and the sort. I wonder what sort of strange
inventions I'll see when I get older, I'm 30 now.
Anyways, wanted to wish you a happy 100th. My great grandfather(John Hand) lived to 99 3/4 years old. Best wishes Ted Rodenbach |
Dear K Sullivan

Dear Miss Sullivan,
I just received a message from Pasty Central and was happy to hear about your 100th birthday. I wish you a very Happy Birthday and may your year be filled with good health and much happiness. I remember having a Miss Sullivan for a third grade teacher at Morrison school. Are you the same teacher from Morrison School? Are you the same teacher that brought your nephew, Grant, to school, so I thought I could bring my brother, Tony, as well. You made me take him home...ha.. I would love to hear from you.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY...... Vera Shuty Picchiottino (editor's note: The teacher you remember is Kathryn's sister Mame) |
I like to wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY. This
is such a great thing that you are turning 100 years young. I am very jealous
of you and hope that someday I may to reach 100 years of age. Again congrats
on your birthday.

Dear Katherine,
Happy 100th birthday! I sent some pasties to my Dad and brother in Tennessee, and they really liked them. I went to Michigan Tech for a couple of years in the mid 60's, and my Dad and brother and I bear hunted with Keith and Bill Marjama (sorry, I know that is not spelled right) a number of years ago. I love the UP. I was up there grouse hunting for a few days in October. My wife is a school teacher, so I appreciate the job teachers do. I hope you have a great birthday. Sincerely, Jerry Madden |
Happy 100th birthday...welcome to the best time of
your life...You can now do anything you want as it will not shorten
your lifespan :)

Happy Birthday on your 100th on Dec. 4th. Since
my ancestors were from Wales & Cornwall, and I ate pasties all my life,
I got interested in the Pasty page. Another reason, when my Williams
family came from Wales they settled in UP of Michigan and I love the pictures
because I have never been there. Do have a Happy Birthday.
Love from Becky Bult |
Just a note to wish you a wonderful day and a happy,
healthy new century!

it is wonderful.

Dear Ms. Sullivan,
I was delighted to hear of your birthday celebration! How wonderful! I am a past resident of the Upper Peninsula (Marquette) and visit the pasty.cam site frequently, if only to reacquaint myself with the beauty of Upper Michigan. You belong to a rare breed of hearty individuals whom I admire very much for your ability to survive in such a cold climate. The snow has it's charm, but it takes more than charm to live in Copper Country. You have my utmost respect. I am somewhat new to this technology and find it fascinating. I'm so glad you enjoy it too. Please feel free to write to me anytime. You, hopefully, will not be compelled to correct my grammar, although it would probably do me good if you did! I am a visiting home nurse and wish I could get more seniors involved with computers. They're so much fun!. I have really enjoyed visiting pasty central, I love the humor, the photographs, the warmth of the people and am going to order pasties for my brother for Christmas. I think you must have some very clever, fun-loving and talented people around you. Wishing you a very happy birthday, Nancy Pritchard |
Kathryn:
Happy 100th Birthday to a fellow teacher. Both my wife and I are teachers. I teach science and computers to 7th and 8th graders in Vassar, MI. My wife is a 7th grade English teacher at the same school. Vassar is a small town that is located in the "Thumb" of Michigan. Have a great day on your birthday. Ron Cameron |
Hi Kathryn!
Happy birthday! I love Michigan's Upper Peninsula and get into look at where the Pasty Cam has been every day. It sure is beautiful country there! And I've ordered pasties a couple times. I make my own but sometimes I'm too lazy and I know I can get good ones from Pasty Central! How long have you lived in the UP? I bet you have some fond memories! My mother and my mother-in-law were both school teachers. It's a great profession and takes a lot of patience and creativity. I don't think I could do it. I work as a computer programmer and can work from home a couple days a week. Isn't technology wonderful! May God bless your next year! Carol Nemec |
