Last trip?
My snowmobile was left at Frank's house and it looks like the end of ice season will come soon. The prediction is for 50 degrees in a couple of days so we took the trailer down to pick up the snowmobile then we headed out fishing.
It was a nice day, light wind and sunshine. There were quite a few trucks parked on the end of the pier but the guys were fishing out farther after perch. One guy was after whitefish and he said, "you should have been here Monday". There was about 18 inches of solid ice where we set up. There were a few fish coming by and soon I had a hit and landed a whitefish. There were a few fish coming by but they were lookers and not biters. I did catch two suckers that will make good cut bait this spring.
The fish quit coming by around noon but we stuck it out to 1:30 with no further action. With the warmer weather predicted, this may be our last trip out on the ice this year.

Finally out on the bay
Frank was our guide. We all met up at 9:00 AM and sleighs were loaded and hooked to our snowmobiles. Frank had a trail out onto the frozen lake and we hit the ice. There were patches of bare ice with about 4 inches of ice in other places. The place we were heading for was about three miles out into Green Bay.
The ride out was uneventful, no cracks to cross this year. As we got farther south in the bay the snow got deeper but we all had snowmobiles so we easily skimmed over the snow. We set up in 42 feet of water and soon we were marking fish on our sounders. Of course Willy caught the fires fish. We marked a lot of fish but they wouldn't bite. We picked away at them and ended up with 14 whitefish and 3 lawyers.
Below are a bunch of pictures that Willy took

Like a spring day
Dave and I decided to try for whitefish again. We headed down to Green Bay and on the way down the sun came out and the clouds disappeared revealing a beautiful springlike day. It was so nice that we didn't even need our shelters. I had forgotten my fish finder so Dave set up close to me and he would say, "fish down there! Ohh he is gone". Soon I would either catch a fish or get a bite. I would thank Dave for sending the fish my way. Dave kept loosing them and then he broke off his jig, I'll let him tell you the story some day. We ended up with seven fish. I had five and Dave had two. We stopped at Franks on the way home to give Kathy a fish. She had requested one fish the day before when Marge and I stopped by and Frank gave me a ride on his ice boat. Lots of fun. A good start to spring and ice fishing.
Frank in front of his ice boat. The ride he gave me was great.
Warm day, didn't need the tent up.
Nice whitefish in the sink.

Trucks on ice
Dave and I fished the same place as last week but with a different result. The fish would swim by my lures and go and bite Dave's. He caught 4 and I caught 1. I blame it on Marge as she brought bananas into the house. Dave asked if I said their name and I admitted that I had. He said "bad idea" and said that from now on refer to them as the "forbidden fruit".
Dave also claims to have lost a lure to a whitefish and another lure to a large pike. If you catch a 36 inch pike with a lure hanging from its lip, it is Daves.
It was a real nice day on the lake, the sun was out and there was no wind. Ice is a foot thick and there are lots of trucks driving on the ice.
About 50 trucks on ice in Green Bay
