Laurie Bashaw and her husband, Ed Korpi, participated in the Wreaths Across America event in Marquette at the Holy Cross Cemetery. There wasn’t too much snow in the Marquette cemetery, so they could lay the wreaths with no problem. If you read what is written on the box in the first photo, as they lay the wreath, they are asked to say the name of each Veteran out loud. For those that don’t know, this event was held on Saturday, December 14th this year. Laurie and Ed joined more than two million volunteers and supporters who gathered to Remember, Honor and Teach by laying wreaths at Veteran’s graves, at more than 4,600 participating locations in all 50 states, at sea and abroad. My granddaughters who live in Maryland, also participated with their Girl Scout group and their Mom, only they didn’t have snow to deal with in the cemetery they laid wreaths at.

The fifth and sixth photos are wreaths that Laurie and Ed made to lay on Laurie’s deceased Veteran husband’s grave and Ed’s Veteran father’s grave. What a beautiful way to remember and honor them each year. You can see in those two photos that they had to shovel the gravestones out in that cemetery.

When Nancy Haun set up to record this video in Bovine, she was hoping the Canadian National train would be chugging by, but it did not arrive that day. What she did catch though, was Tim, clearing the rails, which wasn’t a lot of action, but still pretty neat to see that being done.

This is just so thoughtful and
heartwarming. Our veterans are
finally getting the respect they
so deserve. I thank them for their
service.

What a nice way to remember those who
have passed on and the train that never
showed up.

By Donna (Donna) on Friday, December 27, 2024 - 12:00 pm:

That is so beautiful. What a wonderful way to honor
these phenomenal patriots. God Bless all.

I echo Donna's words, well said.

Alex, you and I sure could clear some Detroit Rush
Hour traffic with that monster Nancy has on film!
:-)

UC…I hear that. Convert that bad boy to a
4-wheel drive, ORV and we’ve got an episode
of the Fast and the Furious.
