I think Brita Haapala’s array of photos here today, depict this Keweenaw December perfectly. The accumulated snow on the branches, the coated and snow-topped Mountain Ash Berries that seem to be just waiting to feed the birds and the Christmas décor to top it all off. These four pictures could be the definition of December.

To complete the Keweenaw December scene, we have a video from Judy Byykkonen of the Laurium Street Department cutting back the growing snowbanks along the sides of Lake Linden Avenue. They do this periodically during the winter to make room for more snow to come, plus it helps for folks that have to back out of their driveway, to be able to see whether it’s safe to pull out or not. Judy commented what a great job the Laurium Street Department does for the residents in keeping the roads clear and passable. She says, they “ROCK!”

What gorgeous December pictures.
The first one is my favorite. It's
just beautiful. I always enjoy
watching the snow cleaning like
that. By February on our hill, we
could really use it but usually
don't get it. We got lucky because
the last 5 or so days really
brought the snow pile down. I'm
sure it'll get back up there, but
the warm weather and no snow
really helped. I'll take it.

How beautiful!

And the Elf is watching!

Nice set and the trees are saying;
Have a Berry, Merry Christmas!
Mary…thanks for the links yesterday.
The UP won over some very prestigious
locations.
And did anyone hear the F16 fighter jets
that were scheduled to fly over the UP?
They make a very loud and distinctive
sound that probably rattled a few deer
antlers.

The snow on the mountain ash berries is very appealing. My grandma had a vase like the one the Elf is hiding in!
