In my opinion, hiking in the Fall is absolutely the best. The temperatures are cooler, the bugs are for the most part, non-existent and the colors of Autumn are a bonus treat for your eyes. Kathy Erkkila Ptaszek and a friend did a bit of hiking this fall season and visited the 10 foot falls near Eagle River, along with a hike on the Monk’s trail, near Eagle Harbor. Even when the leaves are falling around you, the beauty is still there to be found. I love the needles accumulated in the nooks and crannies of the rocks at the falls and the colorful leaves in the river on the Monk’s Trail, are like it’s been decorated to welcome visitors coming down the path, just glistening on the water’s edge. It’s the little things that create beauty for us to enjoy.

We wrap up this week’s look back at the 2024 Fall Season, with In The Keweenaw who shares a fall color check over Hancock and Mont Ripley. The aerial views are breathtaking, to say the least.

There's a Native American catalog I'd get, and
order from, and they do vids....Southwest Indian
Foundation..they always end with "May you walk in
Beauty." Gotta say...we sure do!!

Absolutely beautiful again! I have
trees in the backyard that are
still colorful. And I'm grateful
for them. I love the needles and
leaves floating too. Just so
pretty. And I bet it smelled
glorious.

I've never been to 10 Foot Falls but yet it has
been so close by. Very nice.

Beautiful video, especially at 4K resolution on my
new monitor.

I think I successfully voted FOUR times today,
once with each Web Browser I have, Chrome,
Firefox, Edge and my new Opera.

I'm using Opera for this post and it suffers from
the same issue as Firefox. It automatically
shortens the line length to something like 50
characters.

Great pics and video, the first pic is just
fantastic and looks like a great place to hike. I
too voted several times, where do we rank??

Nice to see my Alma Mater, NMU doing so well in
Football and Hockey this season so far, NOT NOT
NOT NOT!!!! No wins in football and one so far in
Hockey. I realize we're not the Big Ten, but in
Hockey our program should be competitive and
always close to the top and competing for the
Division Championship and an invitation to the Big
Dance, along with MTU, to win a National
Championship!!
Both Tech and NMU provide college students with a
great education, and you can't argue the locations
for a student to attend for beautiful country,
it's people etc... However, I do realize I'm
extremely biased, I wouldn't trade my college
experience for anything. YES, I KNOW MTU IS,
ACADEMICALLY A BETTER SCHOOL. I applied to both
and didn't have the grades for Tech, I was too
busy working in the family business, and I didn't
take my HS years seriously, but I sure did enjoy
the income I had as a HS Senior and the cars I
bought. Hey... I was 16/17 years old, what can I
say!! lol
But here again, many young HS Grads
see the U.P. as too far away from family downstate
and other states as well. Being 8 hours away from
home was an education by itself. Grandpa Norm was
insistent that we went away to school for that
very reason. "Next time you and dad have an
argument, just assume that he is right" BP, and
you know what... he was right about most things
lol.

Okay, Happy Sunday all, thanks to all our Vets for
everything you've done and are doing for our
country and you all were/are not "A bunch of
suckers and losers" All Americans owe you a debt
of gratitude for your service- BIG THANK YOU!

Lastly, Go Lions, GRIT, LET'S GO!! In Holmes and
Campbell, we trust!! TCB IN HOUSTON!!
