What to do on a hot August day? Head out to the shores of Lake Superior where it’s usually a bit cooler than in town. Deb Simons and her hubby Ron, did just that this past week and spent the day at Brunette Park on the Gay/Lac La Belle road. It’s actually one of my favorite parks that isn’t too far from home. When our boys were younger, we’d pack up the cooler and head there for a picnic and some fun on the beach there. We did the same with our grandsons when they came along. There are picnic tables and a few grills there, along with outdoor bathroom facilities. On really hot days, it may fill up quickly, since it’s just a small park, so get there early if you want a picnic table. It looks like Deb and Ron had the place mostly to themselves this day. Deb said they waded out to their knees, but the water was a bit too cold to go in any further for her. What a relaxing day, just enjoying the shores of Lake Superior like that.
The video gives you a look at the rocks and water where Ron was doing a bit of rock hounding to see what he could find there. I love the sound of the waves lapping up on the shore!

It really was a beautiful day. And the water wasn't too cold for me, but the wind was chilly up there. When I'm wet, I can't stand the chilly breeze on me like that. Takes me hours to warm up. If not for that, I'd have been in there. But it was the perfect temp for wading and sitting on the beach soaking up the sunshine. It was so hot in town, but the breeze there made it the perfect day for just enjoying the beautiful view. Every time we go to the beach, I say that this is my favorite one. Then the next time we go, we'll hit a different beach, and I say the same thing, lol. Lake Superior beaches are the best. Btw, when we went on this Monday's 90 degree day, we were both in the water for over an hour. The water is unusually warm this year. I'm so thankful that we live in the most beautiful place on earth.

You are so right Deb, we sure do live in the most beautiful place on Earth!!
When I could pick agates, listening to the waves there, was Nature's valium...you don't realize how tense you are, until you've spent the day listening to that....and then get up and try packing up to head home!

Wow, looks like the perfect day! Feels like we are right there with you, Deb - thanks for taking us along. How is Ron's shoulder doing these days?

Ron's shoulder is doing pretty good. Therapy released him as did his ortho. He doesn't have full range, of course, but he's got quite a bit. Thanks for asking.
