When Joanne Furton knew there was going to be a full moon a week ago, she used an app to figure out the best shooting spot for snapping pictures and got set up to capture today’s images next to the North Pier Lighthouse in Menominee. She said she used a 200-600 mm lens on her Sony A711 and WOW, the results are pretty amazing. I can’t get over how huge the moon looks next to the lighthouse and then how it looks dissected in the last two photos. Incredible shots to say the least!
Now we join Old Coot Camper for a three day adventure exploring Michigan’s Western Upper Peninsula. In the lead-in to the video, the “Old Coot” says: “It takes a while to get there, but Michigan's Upper Peninsula is something to see. I only had 72 hours, so I concentrated on the western portion, in the Porcupine Mountain Wilderness Area and the Keweenaw Peninsula. From waterfalls, to lakes, harbor towns, wilderness, mine tours and great hiking, the UP has it all.”

Perfection!! Those are purely stunning!! And what I read, said it was going to be a Super Moon. These are just gorgeous. And the light on the lighthouse in every shot. Gorgeous!!

Hi I like the second photo, where the moon appears to balance on top of the lighthouse. I also like the last photo, which gives some perspective.

Absolutely stunning photos.
It is VERY difficult to get proper camera exposure settings to get both the Moon and landscape both perfectly captured. To Joanne's benefit, we are briefly in a situation where the Sun sets at about the same time the Moon rises. It can turn the Moon into an orange sunset glow while also helping to light up the landscape. It allows for a higher F-Stop to get enough depth of field for both the Moon and the foreground to both be in focus, without sacrificing to a slow shutter setting.
Very nice video, although the music background was a bit loud for my hearing difficulty. I noticed the sliderules on display at the train depot. I started my education at Tech using a sliderule, before calculators.
BTW, my first job out of school was using a calculator chip to fully operate a passenger elevator.

Truly amazing photos whether they were taken by a cell phone or camera, lol, simply beautiful- eh!!
Always interesting to hear and see another individual's perspective of what they are seeing, his narrative was well done.
Still home, LD camping trip cancelled to Mackinaw City. Just trying to stay out of the hospital at this point. Hoping to be healed up by mid September and get traveling, we'll see....
