I agree Kathyrn, it's beautiful and most likely frozen water tracking the patterns in the wave washed sand and the wave eroded sandstone.
I first thought, why does the sunset look that way when viewed from the east Keweenaw shoreline. I've always reflexively preferred the west shoreline since I much prefer to chase the 'sets rather than the 'rises. But I just realized, after referencing a map, there is an area at the end of Louis Point Rd, on the south side of the Tombolo that views 1 to 2 miles of open water to the southwest. Tombolos are one of my favorite geological formations, I should have realized this gem earlier.
