Sunsets are beautiful no matter the season and luckily we have a couple here today. The first one is from Patty Rheault out in Bootjack. It seems like the snow makes the golden glow that much brighter. Such a peaceful scene.

The second shot was snapped by Marcy Bessolo Hermanson in Ahmeek Location. She titled it: “When the sun goes down on my side of town”. Sorry, not sorry, if you’re humming or singing this tune for the rest of the day. Marcy’s side of town looks very inviting with the row of houses bordered by the snow and again, it seems like that white gold on the ground makes the pink in the sky, pinker.

The third shot isn’t a sunset, but what a stunning photo it is from Brita Haapala. The blue sky just below the fluffy clouds, the sun peeking through the trees and making shadows on the snow...it shows off the pretty side of snow perfectly.

If you’ve heard of the Natural Wall here in the Copper Country, you’ll know exactly what Alexis Dahl is talking about in today’s video. She gives us some background information on how it was formed, with some expert geologist help from Paul Brandes, someone we’re all familiar with here on the Pasty Cam...a.k.a. Capt. Paul. So here you go, everything you always wanted to know about the Natural Wall.

Beautiful set! #3 is my favorite and provided
by photographer extraordinaire, Brita Haapala.
Interesting video too. I didn’t realize how big
the wall was until I saw a person standing
next to it.
“ All in all, you're just another brick in the wall”
(Pink Floyd) Another song to hum all day.
And I was wondering when Capt. Paul’s name
would come up. After all, he gots college.

Beautiful pictures. My favorite is also number 3.
It was an immediate "Holy smokes"!

I love both songs mentioned here today. But no
fear, I'll have Christmas music playing all day.

WHAT beautiful pictures!

No one makes vids like Alexis...and yes, I remember
crawling around there back in the day....there used
to be a sign there, right?? You could park on the
road and walk across a field.....

I visited the Natural Wall in the Summer of 2016 with a group of students and professors from MTU. Yes Donna, we parked along Old Colony Road, east out of Laurium. The walk south to the ravine is short and easy, but climbing down into the gully was too difficult for me and some others. The leaf cover blocked most of the Wall but it was visible enough. Early Spring or late Fall is the best time to go (as Alexis did).

The GPS coordinates of the parking spot on Old Colony Rd is:
Lat: 47.242070 Lon: -88.395588

The Wall is approximately at:
Lat: 47.240909 Lon: -88.396078
