The clouds this past week have been pretty amazing around the Keweenaw. Debbie Jarve captured some of them in the Houghton/Hancock/Ripley area, hovering over the Portage Lake Lift Bridge, the old mining ruins in Ripley and over the Portage Canal and the Ranger III. So puffy looking and just filling the blue sky... beautiful indeed.
Then Debbie headed to Calumet and snapped a shot of the clouds over the old Calumet State Police Post, just off US41/M26. Just look at those clouds, it almost looks like you could reach right up through them to the blue above. I love the contrast of the red barn-like building, the white puff of clouds above it and the brilliant blue beyond in Debbie’s bottom photo. All these cloud shots, reminds me of a quote I’ve always liked - “Having your head in the clouds, even for just a few minutes each day, is good for your mind, good for your body, and good for your soul.” – Gavin Pretor-Pinney. I hope Debbie’s clouds have been good for yours!
We’re hooking up with the Restless Viking today for an adventure over to Neebish Island on the St. Mary’s River. They spent a few days on the island over on the eastern end of the U.P.

It IS amazing how the cloud formations effect a scene and even your mood at times. These certainly have a positive effect! Thanks Debbie!
Did everyone see the waterspouts over by the Bridge and the Island? Yikes!

Jbuck, those spouts made me happy I was not there.
On another note, quite randomly we ran into Capt Paul and Dr Nat at, of all places, Sandy Bottom in Dollar Bay. They were fishing and we were coming back from our boat ride. It was so nice to see them. So for those wondering, they made it safely.

True, it's not everyday you hear someone calling your name from a boat.... ;-)

Capt, especially when you don't live around here so who would be doing that, lol?
