Once the blizzard winds and snowfall ceased, the beauty could be seen again. Debbie Jarve captured some of that beauty on her daily commute to Houghton. All that snow coated the trees in bright white, which stands out against the blue peaking out above the clouds in the sky. It doesn’t get much more picturesque than that. Well, that is unless it’s early morning and the snow-covered tree has lights illuminating the snow. That creates another definition of winter beauty, which Debbie has a knack for finding.

She also finds some humorous scenes in her travels. Debbie told me that coming into Hancock on her way to work, she spotted the scene in the bottom photo and was laughing so hard, she just had to go around the block to snap a picture before proceeding on to Houghton. She figured the snowman fell over because he was “plowed” and must have gotten a bit tipsy, too!

We’re heading to the eastern end of the U.P. for today’s video from Frances Czapski. She said that the sunrise on Lake Superior’s Whitefish Bay on this morning, was very unique with large ice boulders rolling around in the waves on the edge of the shore. The smaller ice chunks were about 8 - 12 inches wide and the large boulders were about 2 – 2 ˝ feet wide around. With the ice along the shoreline just starting to build up, she was surprised to see such large ice chunks tumbling around out there. That's a bit of snow with a beauty Sno-Glow.

One day it's boulders, the next it's pancakes. Go figure?

Yesterday it was 65 degrees here in NW Illinois, but today it's straight back to winter.

Cool pix and today we’ll see a balmy forty six.

Beautiful pictures! The snowman made me
laugh too and I loved the video.

When we went to Minnesota for Christmas, my
son's yard looked awful. The blizzard rain,
you name it destroyed the beautiful song
they had with their nativity, their deer,
their presents, etc. It's usually so
beautiful but was now down in a heap and
covered with snow. We work so hard to make
our yards festive and God laughs. I love it!
Happy new year everybody. Stay safe and
healthy.
