I think it’s safe to say that Nancy Haun loves all things trains. I’d have to give her the unofficial title of the U.P.’s biggest rail fan and I for one am glad she’s out there in all kinds of weather snapping photos and making videos so the rest of us that enjoy trains get to enjoy her passion, too. Today’s set of train photos start with Nancy driving up to Summit on a gloomy day last week. She said it was just starting to snow when she took that first photo, but you couldn’t see it in the photo.

The second and third shots were as CN 5404 was backing into Koppers there in L’Anse. It was another cloudy day, but then the sun came out just in time to shine on the 5404 engine and cars.

Nancy’s last photo here today shows the cars at the end of the Canadian National, loaded with logs from the fiber yard in Bovine as it passes the DSS&A Railroad Boarding House in Herman. I absolutely love the old pickup truck with a covering of white there, too.

Today’s video is the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train as it goes through Taylor, MI, recorded by Ben Lobur, WXYZ-TV, Channel 7 viewer who said he waited five hours for it to come by at around 11:24 p.m. this past week. And yes, I know Taylor is in the lower peninsula, but it’s such a unique train video and it is still Michigan, so I thought it was an appropriate share.

Train pictures are always cool. The
Christmas train was awesome. When we were in
Minnesota, it always stopped in our little
town. Everybody looked forward to the night
it was coming. Loved that video.

How timely!
The Canadian Pacific Christmas train came through town (Quad Cities,IL/IA) last weekend.

I knew Nancy was out braving the colder
temperatures to bring us those beautiful shots
looking at the first pic, thanks Nancy!! That 4th
pic has me agreeing with Mary and noticing that
old pickup truck, she needs a little love it looks
like!! lol

Nice video as well and certainly appropriate Mary.
Afterall, Taylor is a hard-working Blue Collar
town SW of Detroit, Downriver, many of its
residents spend their vacations in the U.P. (like
so many other MI cities/residents in the Lower)
and that train certainly fits today's theme for
sure!!

Great Pic too, D.A.!!
